Tammy Roberts

The Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum is proud to present an exhibit by one of Woodward’s own: Tammy Roberts.

Roberts has been painting the vast landscapes, colorful skies, and flowers of Northwest Oklahoma since childhood. A fifth-generation Oklahoman, Roberts lives on her family’s ranch southwest of Woodward. Much of her inspiration for her work comes from the rugged land that she had fixed fences on, gathered cattle on, or just sat and admired from the highest point in the pasture.

Painting in acrylic and watercolor, Roberts is a “colorist.” Using contrasting colors much the same as the colors appear in nature in Northwest Oklahoma, viewers will find the paintings engaging.

Roberts has studied with Cletus Smith, Milford Zornes, George Kountoupis, Sylvia Miller, and William Hook.  She has shown in the Great 8 State Exhibition, The Baker Art Center, 50 Penn Gallery,  Kirkpatrick Galleries, and many other shows.

“I want my painting to be a window that I never tire of looking out of,” said Roberts.
